shemza.digital #8 is an interactive artwork that invites visitors to become active participants in the creation of a growing digital archive. Launched in 2020 by Aphra Shemza in collaboration with computer artist Stuart Batchelor, the ongoing shemza.digital series reimagines the visual language of Anwar Jalal Shemza through digital technology, encouraging new audiences to engage with his work through creative participation.
For shemza.digital #8, Shemza, Batchelor and Peter Todd developed a bespoke digital painting application accessed via QR code. Visitors are invited to create their own geometric compositions, which are instantly added to a live, evolving archive projected within the gallery. Each new contribution becomes part of a collective artwork, celebrating creativity, collaboration and the ever-expanding legacy of Anwar Jalal Shemza through contemporary digital making.
